Eric Wood, Former Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl Center, Joins Avrij Analytics for Next Capital Raise
Avrij Analytics

Fredericton, NB / Ottawa, ON (July 28, 2020) -- Avrij Analytics is pleased to announce that Eric Wood has invested with Avrij Analytics and will play a key role in capital raising for the company.  Eric is a former National Football League center. He played college football at the University of Louisville and was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. Eric played nine seasons with the Bills, including a Pro Bowl appearance and an NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination before retiring due to a neck injury.

Since leaving Football, Eric has invested in several startups in Louisville Kentucky.  Avrij Analytics is his first investment outside of the U.S., and his first in a sports analytics company.  “Eric is a natural fit for us.  Not only does he have significant domain knowledge, he is ideally positioned to represent the player’s point of view when scouts are evaluating college prospects,” said Garfield Fisher, CEO, Avrij Analytics.

With the disruption in professional sports and imposed travel restrictions due to the pandemic, Eric and Avrij Analytics CFO, Carmen McKell, are carving out a strategy to pitch to investors online.  Having successfully secured a foothold in the NFL, this round of investment is geared toward supporting growth in other leagues, as well as the development of new character evaluation analysis for Human Resource and Development in Law Enforcement.  The company intends to raise $5M with much of the funds already secured from early stage investors in Atlantic Canada and the U.S.

“When considering us as an investment, Eric really did his homework. He came in with tough questions and a healthy dose of skepticism.  He knew what he was looking for, and knew what works and what doesn’t in college and professional sports.  For Eric, innovation was key in his decision to support us.  Our continuing efforts to innovate during challenging times convinced Eric to lead the next round of investment,” said Carmen McKell, CFO, Avrij Analytics.
