Fredericton, NB / Ottawa, ON (August 3, 2020) -- Avrij Analytics is pleased to announce that former NFL Pro Scouting Director, Tom Gibbons, has joined Avrij Analytics to help advance Avrij’s College Prospect App ahead of the 2020 NFL season. Gibbons joins former Pro Bowl NFL players Eric Wood and Jerry Butler, along with Don Purdy, ex-NFL front office executive, to lead the pro sports efforts for Avrij. Among other activities, Gibbons will advise Avrij in its efforts to introduce new and innovative technology to pro/college scouts and front office staff.
Tom, who scouted for the New York Jets, LA Chargers and Buffalo Bills, remains active in college and professional sports in New York. Since leaving the Jets in 2017, Tom accepted an advisory role with the University of Buffalo and consults with several companies in Western New York. While advising the team at Avrij, Tom will play a lead role working closely with 32 NFL teams and Division I Athletic Programs.
"Tom has done so much to help us since we first met in 2018. We are very fortunate to have someone of his caliber on the Avrij Team. Tom will be helpful to Avrij in introducing our technology to scouts and teams in the NFL. Tom has also agreed to assist us in our plans to license our technology to various companies within the college and professional sports tech sector," said Garfield Fisher, CEO, Avrij Analytics.
"I am excited to be a part of the Avrij team and help them in their mission to automate the ‘boring stuff.’ I am convinced that the College Prospect App and the technology behind it will be a game-changer that helps scouts focus on what really matters in the player selection process," said Tom Gibbons.
CFO of Avrij Analytics, Carmen McKell noted, "In my 30 years in the analytics space, Tom is one of the few who came equipped with an astounding grasp of the data and how analytics should be used in predicting player selection in the first round of the NFL Draft. I look forward to working closely with Tom, as we expand our technology into College and Professional Scouting.
Avrij Analytics believes that technology will play a key role in this year’s NFL season faced with many uncertainties. As disruption continues throughout sports, and traditional ways of doing business are challenged, Avrij is prepared to meet the challenge. By introducing innovation in an industry steeped in tradition, by making solutions mobile, and by putting the power of AI in the hands of the front office users, Avrij Analytics anticipates continued growth in 2020.
